Like I said, “This should be good..”

14 Jan

The grocery store trip was a DISASTER. Well not that bad, just a lesson learner. I start class at 1:30, so I got up “early” and headed to the store at 11. Took me about a half hour to walk there because I’m still not sure how to use the tram and it was way way down Viale di Trastevere. On the way we (I recruited my new friend Joey) passed by some street markets. He lives out that way and said that Sundays there’s a huge flea market right outside his apartment called Porta Portese, so I’m dying to check that out!

Anyway we got to the supermarket called Simply and the minute I walked in I realized I made the stupidest mistake ever. I forgot to bring grocery bags. Someone could have warned me that we have to bring our own!!!! So I literally walked a solid half hour, sweating through my rain jacket, just to buy a box of salt, pepper, ground coffee, and a pound of pasta because that was all that would fit in my purse!! This wedding is horseshit..

To make matters worse we started school today. I’m supposed to go to school in Italy?! No one told me that either! Good thing I have a pretty hot Digital Communication teacher, Lorenzo!

And Hey! Check out my lunch today:

Un panino e un cappuccino

Un panino e un cappuccino

That turned my frown upside down 🙂

Allison and I have spent the entire night trying to plan and book a trip to Budapest this weekend, spontaneity is key this semester. And once we book it (fingers crossed) I have a nice 2.50 Euro bottle of white wine to bust open to celebrate!

Wish us luck! Ciao!

Budapest is a bit colder than Rome this time of year and they use the Forint( I think that’s how to spell it) and not the Euro so be careful with prices. Are you flying or train? Don’t get caught in tourist traps check out local hangouts.

A little snow can’t hurt!! And I’m pretty sure the USD is really good in places like Hungary and Czech! We’d fly, prices were 70 euro last night after midnight, but went up this morning. We’re gonna keep monitoring it!

Cappuccino is drank in the morning and certainly not during a meal! Please don’t be an American slob in your motherland!
